Congo's Health Minister Samuel Kamba reported 159 deaths and 626 suspected cases in an ongoing Ebola outbreak centered in Ituri province, with cases appearing across multiple localities including Bunia and Mongwalu.

An Ebola epidemic is spreading across eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, with Bunia in Ituri province at the center of the outbreak. The DRC government convened an emergency Council of Ministers meeting on May 20 in Kinshasa to coordinate response, and response teams and equipment have been deployed to affected health centers.
