Mali's military is struggling to maintain control amid a growing jihadist insurgency, with soldiers arrested for allegedly collaborating with Al-Qaeda-linked militants. JNIM and separatist rebels have seized northern cities, killed the defence minister, and are attempting to blockade the capital Bamako, with Russian mercenaries reportedly supporting the government response.
Four killed in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon Four people have been killed and others wounded in Israeli strikes targeting a number of southern Lebanese towns, Wafa news agency is reporting. According to the report, the attacks struck the towns of Kfar Dajjal and Shoukin. Meanwhile, further attacks targeted the towns of Froun, Adshit, Majdal Zoun, Ghandouriyeh, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Harouf, Mleeta, Haboush, and Wadi al-Salouqi in southern Lebanon.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday discussed the regional situation in the Middle East with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Foreign Office (FO) said. In a statement, the FO said that the two leaders “discussed the evolving regional situation and exchanged views on its wider economic implications”. Dar underscored Pakistan’s “continued efforts to promote constructive engagement and diplomacy in support of peace and stability in the region and beyond”.
