Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains extremely limited due to the war in the Middle East, but the proportion of ships unaffiliated with Iran is increasing among those passing through, according to maritime data company Lloyd's List Intelligence. Since the beginning of the American-Israeli war on Iran on February 28, Tehran has disrupted navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, obstructing a large portion of Arab Gulf states' and Iraq's hydrocarbon exports, with grave consequences for the global economy. However, last week we saw ships flying the flags of Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and a ship flying the Norwegian flag pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Lloyd's List Intelligence analyst Bridget Diaconis.
