An Ebola fever outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has claimed over 1,031 lives out of 2,500 recorded cases, with the virus also confirmed in Uganda. This epidemic, caused by the Bundibugyo strain for which no approved vaccines or treatments exist, is spreading rapidly. Efforts to contain the outbreak are severely hampered by a lack of funding, armed clashes, and local communities resisting burial teams and health measures, increasing the risk of further transmission.
