Pedro Luis Cotes Bernier , known as alias El Gallero or Pedro Cotes, was captured in Uribia, La Guajira, in the midst of the transnational operation Pompeii , carried out by the National Police, the Attorney General's Office, the Army and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The former councilman of Uribia, designated by the authorities as head of the so-called ‘Clan Cotes’ , is required by the Court of the Southern District of Florida for the crimes of conspiracy to commit and illicit drug trafficking. The investigation, initiated in 2022, links him to the shipment of cocaine to Central America and the United States, in addition to activities related to arms trafficking and money laundering.
