United States President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that two US helicopter crew members were “fine” following their rescue by a US Navy drone after their Apache gunship went down in the Iran-controlled Strait of Hormuz. The US military’s Central Command (Centcom) said the AH-64 Apache went down at around 3am local time on Tuesday (4am PKT) near the coast of Oman while patrolling regional waters. It gave no reason for the crash.
The United States threatened Thursday to target ally Oman if it helped impose a tolling system in the key Strait of Hormuz, warning of sanctions against all parties involved in such actions. The United States and Iran also accused each other of violating an ongoing truce following an exchange of fire, three months after the Middle East war began with a wave of US-Israeli strikes on the Islamic republic. The latest exchange was the most serious since Washington and Tehran agreed to a ceasefire in April.
A fire was reported aboard an oil tanker carrying 24 Indian seafarers off the coast of Oman on Monday, as Israel and Iran exchanged fresh attacks in their first major escalation since the ceasefire. The Madagascar-flagged MT Marivex reported a fire around 1.30 pm IST, Opesh Kumar Sharma, a director in India's Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said at a news briefing. Sharma declined to comment on the cause of the fire but said the vessel was carrying 24 Indian crew members.
US denies claim that Iran fired at American vessels The US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement on X denying the claim that the Iranian military had fired warning shots at US warships in the Gulf of Oman. "Doing so would be a gross violation of the ceasefire. U.S.
4.7/10·Middle East Eye (RSS) Fresh strikes on Kuwait and Oman undermine hopes of a U.S.-Iran de-escalation, keeping oil markets on edge and traders skeptical of diplomatic progress. Friday, June 05, 2026 This week’s strikes on Kuwait and the Friday morning attack on Oman have dented hopes for a de-escalation between US and Iran following the much-publicized Israel-Lebanon ceasefire. Whilst Oman’s main port is reportedly up and running again, capping ICE Brent around the $95 per barrel mark, most global crude benchmarks will post weekly gains of 2-3%.
4.1/10·Oil Price (Energy Intel) US threatens to ‘aggressively’ target Oman if it facilitates tolls for Hormuz US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Thursday that Oman should know that the US will “aggressively” punish any actors involved in helping Iran set up tolls on the Strait of Hormuz as part of a ceasefire agreement. “The United States Government will not tolerate any effort to impose a tolling system in the Strait of Hormuz,” Bessent said in a post to X, adding that “any willing partners will be penalized”. This comes after US President Donald Trump threatened to “blow up” Oman if it agreed to work with Iran to impose fees on ships transiting through the strait.
4.1/10·Middle East Eye (RSS) All 20 Indian crew members aboard the tanker MT Jalveer were safely evacuated to shore Thursday after U.S. forces disabled the vessel during a blockade enforcement operation in the Gulf of Oman,...
