The French Institute is launching the first edition of Saison Goncourt/ Goncourt Season , a yearly program dedicated to contemporary French literature. A total of 83.4% of respondents to a survey by INSCOP Research support the introduction of drug testing in schools for students over the age of 14, while only 15.2% oppose it. The Russian Embassy in Bucharest has rejected Romanian authorities’ allegations against a Russian citizen arrested on suspicion of attempted acts of sabotage. Romania’s Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice formally informed the embassy of the detention on Thursday, September 10, the diplomatic mission said.

Almost 150,000 jobs were posted on recruitment platform eJobs.ro between January and September 10, 2026, with 71,000 of them based in Bucharest. Nusco, one of Romania’s leading real estate developers, announced that it signed a EUR 21.4 million financing agreement with Exim Banca Românească. The funding will be used to refinance assets in the company’s portfolio and support projects currently under development. Bucharest City Hall announced on Wednesday, September 9, that it installed the capital’s first smart pedestrian crossing on Șoseaua Chitilei. The pilot project uses motion detection, dynamic lighting, sound signals, and tactile markings to improve pedestrian safety. Unlike conventional systems with continuously flashing lights, the new crossing activates its warning signals only when needed, the authorities said.

The trial of former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, former mercenary leader Horațiu Potra, and 20 other defendants began with a postponement at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, Hotnews.ro reported. Romania’s Defense Ministry said it will hold a military reservist mobilization exercise in Bucharest and neighboring Ilfov county between October 5 and 12. Waldevar Holding is building two co-located energy projects for China’s Sany Group in southern Romania at Dobrești, Dolj County, with a capacity of 95 MWp of solar energy, 220 MWh of battery storage, and the high-voltage infrastructure necessary for grid connection.  The symbolic inauguration of the project took place on Friday, August 14, when a Sany delegation from China, together with its partners, joined Waldevar representatives on the construction site in Dobrești, according to a Waldevar press release quoted by Economica.net. The Dobrești project combines large-scale solar power generation with 220 MWh of battery storage and dedicated high-voltage infrastructure, including a 110/20 kV transformer station and a 110 kV underground line. CEC Bank and Exim Banca Românească have signed a RON 289 million (EUR 55.15 million) financing agreement for the development of the combined heat and power (CHP) plant CET Titan. Apartment prices in Romania’s most important cities remained largely stable in July relative to the previous month, according to Storia’s analysis cited by Economedia , with a slight 6% increase in both new and old one- to three-room apartments. British investor Ghai Sant Ram announced the purchase of a plot of approximately 30,000 square meters from fiery Romanian businessman and football club owner George Becali on Tuesday, July 28. Erste Group does not expect any changes to Romania's rating and outlook under the Fitch review scheduled for the evening of Friday, July 31, after the markets close, according to the weekly macroeconomic report published on July 27. Romania’s Foreign Affairs Ministry summoned the Russian Ambassador in Bucharest over the repeated violation of the national airspace by Russian drones over the past several days, announced that a diplomat of the Russian Embassy will be expelled, and will recall its Ambassador from Moscow in an unprecedented diplomatic gesture, according to a ministry’s press release on July 27. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania announced on its Twitter (X) page that it summoned the Russian ambassador after Romanian armed forces shot down three drones that had entered the country's airspace over three days. Romanian prosecutors from the General Prosecutor’s Office indicted MEP and leader of far-right SOS Romania party, Diana Șoșoacă , and her former husband, Silvestru Șoșoacă, in a case concerning the deprivation of liberty of several Italian journalists dating back to 2021. Specifically, the incident took place in December 2021, when Italian journalists from Rai Uno claimed they had been held against their will after an interview with Diana Șoșoacă, who was a senator at the time, and her husband. As a result, the pair was officially charged with four counts of unlawful deprivation of liberty.
